More information
Iranian chef Afsaneh Kaviani is widely known, not only for being a Masterchef finalist, but for her passion for Persian food and culture. Since appearing on MasterChef in 2012, she has solidified her reputation with her supper clubs, earning accolades like the Best World Food award at the Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards. Her mission is simple yet profound: to introduce people to “true home cooked Persian food the way we do at home.” This philosophy ensures every dish is prepared with an unparalleled level of authenticity, passed down through generations of family cooking.
Diners will be treated to the rich texture of Maasteh Kiseh; strained yoghurt drizzled with herb oil, roasted peppers, and seeds, alongside the contrasting textures of Borani Bademjan, featuring fried aubergine with yoghurt drizzle, mint oil and walnut crumbs. These authentic dips and appetisers will be perfectly paired with traditional Persian breads, including Barbari and Lavash, setting a delicious tone for the courses to follow.
The heart of the evening lies in the meticulously prepared main courses, which showcase the richness and depth of Iranian cuisine. The feast will feature the show-stopping Koofteh Berenji; savoury meatballs made with rice, split lentil, and fresh herbs, served with sharp sumac onions and Sangak bread. Guests will also enjoy a luxurious pairing of Zereshk Polo (steamed saffron rice with barberries, almond, and pistachio) served with tender Morgho Aloo (chicken thighs in a rich saffron and plum sauce, accompanied by straw potatoes). Another highlight is the aromatic Adas Polo, rice layered with green lentil and fried onion, served alongside Khorakeh Ghoosht, a succulent lamb in saffron, lemon, and onion sauce.
This single-night event is more than just a meal; it’s a cultural immersion guided by Afsaneh’s passion engaging with the guests, explaining traditions, techniques, and the history behind each dish, making the experience deeply personal and educational.
